Anti-Trump ‘No Kings’ Rallies Held Across the Country

Numerous anti-Trump “No Kings” rallies were held across the United States on Oct. 18, from the National Mall to Times Square. A large number of Democratic lawmakers participated in the nationwide protests. “Showing up to express dissent against an out-of-control administration, that’s as American as motherhood, baseball, and apple pie,” said House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

Hamas Planning ‘Imminent Ceasefire Violation’: State Department

The State Department said on Oct. 18 that Hamas, a US-designated terrorist organization, is planning an “imminent ceasefire violation.” Washington warned that the group might be putting together an attack on Palestinians in Gaza, which would violate the terms of a 20-point peace agreement with Israel. The militant group has killed dozens of individuals since the ceasefire went into effect as Hamas attempts to retake control over Gaza.

Report: Supreme Court Out of Money Amid Shutdown

As the US government shutdown reaches the three-week mark, officials say the Supreme Court could be short of cash. Patricia McCabe, Supreme Court public information officer, said in a statement to The Hill that the high court may have run out of money on October 18. “As a result, the Supreme Court Building will be closed to the public until further notice. The Building will remain open for official business,” McCabe said. “The Supreme Court will continue to conduct essential work such as hearing oral arguments, issuing orders and opinions, processing case filings, and providing police and building support needed for those operations.”

Trump Immigration Policies Could Reduce Workforce by 15 Million

The workforce could see a massive decline over the next ten years. According to a study by the National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP), President Trump’s immigration policies and deportation efforts could reduce the national workforce by 15.7 million by 2035. “The Trump administration’s policies on illegal and legal immigration would reduce the projected number of workers in the United States by 6.8 million by 2028 and by 15.7 million by 2035 and lower the annual rate of economic growth by almost one-third, harming U.S. living standards,” the report stated.
