House Democrats Balk, Threaten Shutdown
House Democrats are rebelling against Senate Minority Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) deal with the president to pass five of the six remaining spending bills and a continuing resolution for the last one. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), however, made it clear there would be no fast tracking of the bill come Monday evening, pushing the vote to at least Tuesday at the earliest.
President Trump Says US Is ‘Starting to Talk to Cuba’
President Donald Trump said Saturday that the US was beginning to talk with Cuban leaders and that his administration was putting “greater pressure” on the island by cutting off key oil supplies.
Judge Orders Release of 5-Year-Old and Dad Detained by ICE
A federal judge on Saturday ordered the release of Adrian Conejo Arias and his five-year-old son, Liam. The pair had previously been detained by ICE in a Minnesota raid. The two Ecuadoreans, who reportedly entered the US legally as asylum applicants, had been sent to a family detention center in Texas.
Democrats Unexpectedly Flip a Texas State Senate Seat
Democrats scored an unexpected and stunning win on Saturday during a special election runoff for Texas Senate. Republican Leigh Wambsganss had been favored to win, as the district heavily favored President Donald Trump – who endorsed the GOP candidate. Instead, Democrat Taylor Rehmet, an Air Force veteran from Fort Worth, will soon take the previously red seat.
‘Melania’ Makes $8 Million in Opening Weekend – Best in a Decade
Melania Trump’s new self-titled documentary brought in $8 million at the box office in its opening weekend, making it the #1 documentary in more than a decade. It’s expected to finish third behind horror films “Iron Lung” and “Send Help,” but it has already beaten Jason Statham’s action flick “Shelter,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dem Rep. Ro Khanna: Trump Will ‘Try to Interfere’ With Midterm Elections
California Democrat Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) on Sunday said President Donald Trump and his administration will do all they can to meddle with the 2026 midterm elections in a way that will affect their fairness. “I have confidence we will have an election. I believe they will use every tool in their toolbox to try to interfere with it,” Khanna told NBC News.

Deputy AG Blanche Defends Don Lemon Arrest on CNN
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche on Sunday appeared on the network that used to employ Don Lemon to defend the arrest of the former CNN anchor over his role in a protest that disrupted religious services at a Minneapolis church. “Well, you conveniently left out multiple allegations in that indictment about what else Mr. Lemon did, including surreptitiously avoiding saying where they were going, being part of the planning, being part of the decisions to make sure the police didn’t know this was happening and federal law enforcement didn’t know this was happening,” Blanche chided CNN host Dana Bash.
Trump Kennedy Center to Close for Two-Year Renovation
President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that the Trump Kennedy Center will shut down on July 4 for two years as it undergoes extensive renovations. “After a one-year review… I have determined that The Trump Kennedy Center, if temporarily closed for construction, revitalization, and complete rebuilding, can be, without question, the finest performing arts facility of its kind, anywhere in the world,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

House Rules Committee Advances Govt. Funding Bill
The House Rules Committee on Monday night voted to advance the Senate’s funding agreement reached with the Trump administration last week to avoid a partial federal government shutdown. The committee passed the measure in an 8-4 vote along party lines, clearing the way for a floor vote as soon as today.
Bill and Hillary Clinton Agree to Testify Before Congress on Epstein
In a startling reversal, former President Bill Clinton and his wife, ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have agreed to testify before the Republican-led House Oversight Committee on their connections to late pedophile sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a funding bill ending a four-day federal government shutdown. The legislation passed by a 217-214 vote. The two-week extension for funding the Homeland Security Department provides a brief pause before the next major congressional battle begins. DHS funding will expire on Feb. 14.
