Ontario Premier Hits Back at Trump Over Wildfire Tariff Threat

Ontario Premier Doug Ford pushed back against President Donald Trump during a July 18 press conference. Speaking to reporters from Thunder Bay, Ontario, the Progressive Conservative leader called Trump’s remarks “totally unacceptable” and “shameful.” In a July 17 Truth Social post, President Trump blamed the smoke that blanketed parts of the Midwest and East Coast on the Canadian government’s “willful negligence,” adding that he will hold “Canada responsible.”

2 US Service Members Killed in Jordan, 1 Missing: CENTCOM

Two US service members were killed in Jordan and one other is missing after Iran struck military bases in Jordan, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). Others sustained injuries, and four other American soldiers were “medically evaluated” in Jordan, but were later discharged. “Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified,” CENTCOM said in a July 18 statement.

Iran Threatens Wider War

Following the US military’s seventh consecutive strike on July 17, the Iranian regime threatened a wider war if the attacks persist. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei said on X that Washington has engaged in “repeat breaches” of the memorandum of understanding established last month. President Trump has warned that the United States will continue to conduct strikes against Tehran until it returns to the negotiating table.

Thousands of Non-Citizens Registered to Vote in New Jersey

New Jersey Democrat Gov. Mikie Sherrill on Tuesday announced that more than 6,000 non-citizens were registered to vote in the state due to a Motor Vehicles Commission software error. Sherrill said “fewer than 400” have actually voted in elections since 2023.

Rand Paul Releases COVID Origins Authors’ Slack Messages

Newly released messages “among the authors of a widely cited paper regarding the origins of COVID-19 privately raised doubts that the virus originated from bats, as their paper stated,” Fox News reports. “Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Tuesday released the internal Slack messages exchanged among the authors of The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2 – Kristian Andersen, Robert Garry, Eddie Holmes and Andrew Rambaut,” the network relates. “The idea that it came from a lab is implausible, and, yet, privately they’re saying the opposite… this level of dishonesty, I think, needs to be exposed,” Paul stated. “These are people who get large, multimillion-dollar grants from our country, and we shouldn’t be giving money to people who lied to us.”
