2 Dead, 9 Injured in Brown University Shooting
Two students were killed and nine more injured during a shooting at Brown University Saturday evening. The school remained in lockdown for hours after the incident to allow more than 400 law enforcement officers to search for the shooter. Authorities report a lone gunman entered a building where students were taking exams and opened fire.
3 Americans Killed in Syria, Another 3 Injured
In an ambush attack in Palmyra, Syria, a gunman believed to have ties to ISIS killed two Iowa National Guard soldiers and a civilian interpreter during a joint operation with allied Syrian troops. An additional three Americans were injured, as were some of the Syrians. The shooter was engaged by friendly forces and killed.
Erika Kirk Says It’s Time to Turn Down the Political Temperature
During an interview on Saturday, Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk, said that “everyone has a responsibility” to scale back the violent rhetoric after her husband’s assassination. “Well, I think everyone has a responsibility to do that and I’m doing my part,” Kirk said when asked about “turning the temperature down right now.”
House GOP Plans a Memorial for Americans Killed by Illegals
Rep. Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) introduced an effort to construct a memorial honoring those who were killed or had lost loved ones at the hands of illegal aliens. During a press event, Hamadeh said it would serve as a reminder of what bad policy can bring.
Hawaii Board Votes to Change Island Name
The Hawaii Board on Geographic Names voted to change the official name of the “Island of Hawaii” to just “Hawaii.” The decision follows a year or more of discussion and controversy. “I think we all know Hawaii is the state and also the name of an Island, and there’s no distinction between the two, and we want to honor the history of the island itself and give it its proper name,” Marques Marzan, the chair of the board, had previously stated.
