What is a Whistleblower?

There’s been a lot of talk in the news lately about President Donald Trump, Ukraine, and a whistleblower. A whistleblower is someone who “blows the whistle” or tells on someone for doing something wrong. An unnamed CIA worker says he has some information about a phone call between President Trump and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Reports say the whistleblower thinks Trump tried to make Zelensky give him information against the law. The claim by the secret source has led to people trying to remove Trump from his job as president – this is called impeachment.

The Keystone Pipeline Spilled Oil in North Dakota

Last week, the Keystone Pipeline spilled about 380,000 gallons of oil over a wetland area in Edinburg, North Dakota. The Keystone Pipeline is a long system of pipes that runs through Canada and the U.S.A. to transport oil. It is owned by the company TC Energy. The spill was a bit less than the size of a football field.

There are several big fires burning across California. California has been getting hotter each year with less rainfall, and some believe this is why there seem to be so many more fires than before. On the other hand, people who do not agree with global warming say the state has always suffered from serious droughts, which often lead to forest fires.

The House of Representatives voted to hold an inquiry into President Donald Trump’s behavior toward Ukraine. They will hold an investigation on whether to impeach the president.
