Whistleblowers: Impeaching Trump and Beyond

There’s been a lot of talk in the news lately about President Donald Trump, Ukraine, and an unidentified whistleblower. A whistleblower is someone who “blows the whistle” or tells on someone for doing something wrong. An anonymous male CIA official reportedly has some information about a phone call between President Trump and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Reports suggest the whistleblower believes Trump illegally put pressure on the other leader to provide information by threatening the U.S. would withhold favors if the demands were not met. This claim by the secret source has led to the current impeachment process.

Keystone Pipeline Erupts in North Dakota

An oil spill last week in the small town of Edinburg, ND, from the controversial Keystone Pipeline remains under investigation.  Approximately 9,120 barrels – 380,000 gallons of crude oil – is said to be affecting a wetland area covering about 2,500 square yards of land: To put into perspective, less than half the size of football field.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum is in contact with the company that operates the pipeline, Canadian-based TC Energy, and its President and CEO Russell Girling as cleanup efforts continue.

The world’s most profitable company is going public. Saudi Aramco, an initial public offering (IPO). This is the process companies go through when they want to change from being privately owned, and open up to public ownership by selling shares.

The House of Representatives voted to approve an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s conduct in relation to Ukraine. Democrats in Congress had already begun a preliminary probe into the president to uncover evidence that would allow them to impeach him. This vote made the investigation official and lays out the boundaries of the probe.
