KFC Introduces the Future of “Chicken”?
From video games to rockets, the world of technology has brought us all sorts of goodies. The 3D printer allows us to create almost anything with a few button punches. These contraptions seem to do magic, and now Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) wants to try it out. The fast-food chain has decided to use 3D printing to create a new version of its chicken nuggets.
KFC said, “The project aims to create the world’s first laboratory-produced chicken nuggets.” It looks like scientists may soon print our meals, instead of farmers growing food. The restaurant said that, as much as possible, the nuggets will taste and look like its normal chicken nuggets.
Some people may wonder exactly what they are eating. If these “chicken” nuggets aren’t made from meat, what are they made from?
A company will create the “chicken” using plant-based material and chicken cells.
Are you ready to try printer-made chicken nuggets?
China and the U.S. Aren’t Getting Along
The United States and China have not been getting along lately. First, the countries argued over trade, and then the Coronavirus started in the Chinese city of Wuhan. Recently, the Chinese consulate in Houston, Texas, was forced to shut down. Staff were given only 72 hours to leave. A consulate is a place that represents a country overseas – for example, the Chinese consulate in Houston was there to represent China and help Chinese people in the area.
The U.S. government closed the consulate, saying it was “a hub of spying” and that Chinese staff there were stealing U.S. science. It is rumored they were trying to steal research on COVID-19.
China disagrees with the claims. Chinese spokesman Wang Wenbin said the actions of the United States were based on “anti-Chinese lies.” China ordered U.S. staff in the city Chengdu to leave the American consulate there. The U.S. flag was lowered from the building.
Tensions between China and America are growing. Who will make the next move, and what will they do?
Vaccine Tests Under Way
There has been a lot of talk since the Coronavirus pandemic started of a vaccine to fight the virus. Will a vaccine be found, and if so, will it work safely? Some countries have passed laws forcing people to get a vaccine if one is made – what will the U.S. do?
On July 27, the United States started a phase three vaccination test in its race to find a way to protect the American people. The experimental vaccine was made by Moderna Inc. and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Around 30,000 people have participated in the trial.
Moderna is not the only company racing to find a cure. The government program Operation Warp Speed is helping companies look for a vaccine. Around $955 million has been spent on Moderna’s testing so far.
