One of the world’s biggest medical companies says it has a coronavirus injection. Scientists at the companies Pfizer and BioNTech announced that they made a vaccine for the virus. They say it can prevent COVID-19 nine out of ten times, in people who haven’t been infected before.

The companies called the development “a great day for science and humanity.”

So, what now?

The companies are planning to make about 50 million vaccine doses this year and even more in 2021.

Pfizer will start to deliver the vaccines. Health experts say this will be the hardest part since storage and transport will be difficult. Pfizer’s vaccine needs a storage temperature of -94 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pfizer is sending out suitcase-sized boxes in centers in Michigan and the country Belgium. They are loading the boxes onto 24 trucks each day. This will let the company transport around 7.6 million doses to nearby airports every day.

Is the coronavirus pandemic finally over? There are still many steps that need to be taken before Americans get a vaccine.
